Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Introducing myself and sharing a little bit about myself. Tell them we'll begin with something they already understand and learn new things. For high school students in a specific subject, I look over homework and what they have learned and go over any questions they have before moving onto new material. I enjoy teaching students of all ages.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
-Former high school mathematics teacher
-Tutored 2nd-8th graders at Marhnathasium
-Served as the math tutor at Fortris College of Nursing
-Have tutored students of all levels and capabilities throughout my adult life.
-I thoroughly enjoy math and helping others understand.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I feel a minimum of an hour is necessary for math tutoring. If your student does not have math homework on a regular basis, I will leave something for them to practice for the next meeting.
I charge 25.00/hr. I live in Hilliard and am willing to travel up to 20 minutes to meet with a student I am tutoring. I also tutor students in my home. Parents are welcome to stay.
How did you get started teaching?
I substituted the first year I had my teaching license in Ohio, and then I taught at my first high school. I took a big 15 yr time out as I had my two kids and focused my time on raising them. As an empty nester, tutoring during the afternoons, early evenings on weekdays as well as some hours on Saturdays helps me strike a wonderful balance in life. I also score standardized tests for DRC, primarily in the summer.
